Members of the GAMHE research group from the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR CSIC) recently attended the 7th Iberian Robotics Conference (ROBOT 2024). The conference gathered researchers and professionals from across the globe to discuss advancements in robotics, focusing on topics such as UAVs, Tele-robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Exoskeletons, Vision Systems, Learning and Planning algorithms, and Industrial Applications. Keynote presentations were delivered by renowned experts, including Prof. Hiroshi Ishiguro, Dr. Ignacio Galiana, and Prof. Ricardo Sanz, addressing emerging themes in robotics, from human-robot interaction to wearable technologies.

Presentations and Activities by GAMHE Members

During the conference, Alberto Villalonga presented the paper «Enhancing Quality Inspection in Zero-Defect Manufacturing Through Robotic-Machine Collaboration», which outlined a pilot project from GAMHE. This work integrates AI-driven camera inspections in the manufacturing of construction panels, aligning with Industry 5.0 principles to promote zero-waste production and safe human-robot collaboration. Meanwhile, Rodolfo Haber served as a session moderator, overseeing discussions on various robotics topics. Leveraging his extensive experience as a researcher and group leader, moderated several sessions, and facilitated thoughtful discussions. Diego Alfaro contributed as a volunteer, assisting with conference organization and representing CAR-CSIC at the event’s stand, where he shared details about two ongoing projects, Powerized and FORTIS, which focus on robotics applications in energy and industrial sectors.

A Hub for Academic and Industry Collaboration

The conference provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange and networking, fostering dialogue between academia and industry. Companies collaborating with CAR-CSIC showcased product demonstrations, highlighting the practical implementation of research outputs. The GAMHE team acknowledges the value of such conferences in driving forward the collective knowledge and application of robotics research.
