COOKIE POLICY

Cookies Used on the WebsiteThe State Agency Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) provides information about the use of cookies on its websites.

Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your device through websites. They are tools that play an essential role in providing many information society services. Among other things, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user’s browsing habits or their device, and, depending on the information obtained, can be used to recognize the user and improve the service offered.

Depending on who manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the obtained data, two types can be distinguished: first-party cookies and third-party cookies.

There is also a second classification based on the duration they remain stored in the user’s browser, which can be session cookies or persistent cookies.

Lastly, there is another classification with five types of cookies based on the purpose for which the data is processed: technical cookies, personalization cookies, analytical cookies, advertising cookies, and behavioral advertising cookies.

The website uses Matomo, an analytics tool that helps websites understand how their visitors interact. A set of cookies is used to collect information and report on website usage statistics without personally identifying visitors. More information about Matomo cookies and privacy information. Additionally, Google Analytics is used to observe generic metrics about website visitors.

For social media promotion, cookies from Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube are used so that our visitors can follow us on these networks, as well as to embed Twitter and YouTube content on the website.

We use WordPress for website development and Divi (Elegant Themes) for design, so their cookies are also employed. Similarly, we use HAProxy for website performance optimization and session cookies like SERVIRED for load balancing functionality. Additionally, a technical cookie named cdp-cookies-plugin-wp is downloaded, which manages user consent for cookie use on the website to remember those who have accepted them and those who have not, so that information regarding cookies is not shown to those who have accepted them.
