On October 2, 2025, we welcomed researchers from Japan’s Moonshot Program, which drives ambitious and disruptive scientific projects by setting “inspiring, imaginative, and credible” goals to transform society by 2050 in key areas such as health, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and advanced computing.

At the GAMHE Pilot Line of Industry and Society 5.0 laboratory, we had the opportunity to showcase the group’s research areas and current projects, with a special focus on FORTIS and PowerizeD.

Experiences were shared regarding the use of artificial intelligence models for predicting the lifetime of power electronics devices within the framework of the PowerizeD project. These experiences include the application of recurrent neural networks and Mixture Density Networks (MDN), with a focus on the robustness and uncertainty quantification of the predictions. Furthermore, their potential use in industrial applications was discussed, highlighting how these models can help prevent unexpected downtime and improve operational efficiency.

Regarding FORTIS, the main goal is to design and implement a human-centered solution that enhances safe and agile collaboration between humans and robots, ensuring both physical and non-physical interaction, adaptability, and reliability in industrial environments.
