The Group of Advanced Automation of Machines, Highly Complex Processes and Environments (GAMHE) has welcomed a group of 4th-year ESO students from IES Ciudad de los Ángeles (Madrid) to its facilities at the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CSIC). This event took place as part of the CSIC scientific outreach initiative Ciencia en el Barrio.
The meeting was held at our Pilot Line of Industry and Society 5.0, a space dedicated to applied research and technological development. During the visit, a live practical demonstration was carried out, and the group’s current lines of work and ongoing projects were showcase, highlighting the European project FORTIS (focused on developing solutions for smart, safe, and fluid human-robot interaction and collaboration).
Additionally, the students learned in detail about the technological pillars of our research:
- Smart manufacturing systems to automate production and monitor machinery in an advanced manner.
- Artificial Intelligence integration for decision-making and autonomous reconfiguration of the production line.
- Operator monitoring systems through sensors to measure stress and fatigue.
Through these institutional transfer and outreach activities, the laboratory reaffirms its commitment to promoting scientific vocations and bringing 21st-century advanced automation closer to future generations of students.
